A contract was signed for Meet the Streets by Maureen Rooney and Paul Punyi, Rooney and Punyi Educational Theatre Productions. 150th representatives met with the City's Tourism Development Coordinator and Jan Moran from the Church Jubilee Committee to discuss sharing cost for street banners. 150th representatives also met with 55 plus Games representatives to discuss volunteers and banners. A news release about new mascot and float was sent to local media. As a result, there was coverage on Shaw TV, as well as an article in the St. Albert Gazette.
Representatives met with Franco-Albertan Society to discuss tying in their celebration being held in St. Albert with the 150th. A non-voting member from AFCA, the military, and city staff joined our Committee. There are plans to add a member of the Aboriginal Day Celebration as well as the Alexander Reserve.
Sponsorship agreements were signed with Canadian Western Bank, Axe Productions, UA Local 488 Union and St. Albert Self Storage. This is added to existing sponsors City of St. Albert, St. Albert Gazette, Budget Rentals and Right Angles Construction Ltd.
150th representatives met with Maralyn Ryan and Doug McLennan from the St. Albert Curling Club to further plans on The Black Bonspiel of Willie MacCrimmon. The St. Albert Potter's Guild presented their ideas for contributions to the 150th celebration.
The 150th Committee ran a contest for Canada Day to drive traffic to website and Canada Day booth at Lions park. The contest contained 150 questions about St. Albert and is available for download .
Moostoos and our float were present at the St. Jean Baptiste Day Parade in Morinville. The float was on display for Canada Day and shirts and hats were available for sale at our booth.
The 150th website continues to grow and regular updates to Twitter and Facebook continue. A letter was sent to St. Albert Protestant and Catholic school board teachers and principals asking them to incorporate 150th in their curriculum.
Upcoming Rendezvous 2011 winter events were added to the Alberta Travel Guide for the winter edition. |
